Go Nuts Enduro Round 1

On February 26th, I headed south to Jarrods Place for the first enduro of the season. I showed up a bit late due having to drop the kids off at their grandma's house. I was worried about missing the first couple stages, but as I arrived I saw Dave about to head up to the top. I ended up hitching a ride with him to the top of the stages where I talked to a few of the racers and tried to put some faces to names before they headed down the hill.

The weather as a bit dreary, sprinkling  and overcast. It had rained the past couple days,  so the stages were slick in spots. Landings, tech, and berms were sketchy depending on the stage and where the sun was, so riders were choosing lines in the moment.

Nevertheless, riders were absolutely sending it. I tried to choose a spot to setup in between stage 3, 4,  and 5 so I could see who was coming down where and try and capture as much mayhem as possible. I worked my way back and forth between these stages for a several hours.

By the time some of the riders were passing me on stage 5, you could tell they were absolutely gassed. The hill these riders have to climb up, I didn't even want to walk it once and they had to walk it either 4 or 5 times depending on the class they were racing in.

I moved around a bit and finally settled near a massive step up on stage 5 that was close to the bottom of the stage. It was about 1pm at the time and the riders needed to be finished by 3pm. I ended up snagging some of my favorites from the race in this spot. By 2:30, the riders had pretty much stopped coming down and I made my way back the truck. I was going to grab some brews and the food, but the line for the food truck was long and all the brews were accounted for so I decided to head home. I had a blast and I'm looking forward to seeing these riders progress through the 2023 season.
